2016 Cadillac CTS-V Packs 640 HP Into COBO
On display for the first time ever, the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V appears to be worth the wait.
Under the hood of the new CTS-V is a monstrous 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that makes 640 HP and 630 lb-ft. of torque. Paired to an eight-speed automatic, this powertrain configuration may sound somewhat familiar and that’s because it’s not too far off what’s available in the Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
Despite the CTS-V weighing 4,145 lbs., it can sprint from 0-60 MPH in just 3.7 seconds. Even more impressive, the Cadillac is reported to top out 200 MPH.

The CTS-V’s handling should match its straight line performance thanks to a host of upgrades. Various bracing has been added to the chassis for a 25 percent improvement in stiffness. The standard magnetic selective ride control works with an electronic limited slip differential to ensure the CTS-V dispatches corners as quickly as possible. As a final touch, the hot rod Caddy wears grippy Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
Aero bits have been added to the CTS-V all around to reduce lift and add cooling. A carbon fiber hood is part of the standard equipment list while carbon fiber vents, a front splitter, a rear spoiler and a rear diffuser are available as an extra package.
Inside the CTS-V gets some sporty upgrades like optional Recaro seats GM’s Performance Data Recorder. As well, there is a unique version of the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster display, with special V-Series graphics. The CTS-V should hit showroom floors later this summer.

With all due respect, to me, the 2008 CTS and the 2012 CTS-V are still the nicest/coolest/most aggressive Caddies I have ever seen in my life. So far, nothing I have seen from Caddy tops those two vehicles, in my opinion. Too bad. My wife feels the exact same way.
No wagon or manual tranny - no sale. Unlike the port injected V2 the new direct injected engine will gradually lose power as deposits collect on intake valves. And then there's that inane CUE touch screen.
