Jeep Recalls Some Wrangler Models for Wiring Issue
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will recall approximately 182,743 Jeep Wranglers in the U.S. to address a wiring issue.
The voluntary recall affects certain 2016 and 2017 Jeep Wranglers. FCA will replace wiring that may, in certain crash conditions, disconnect from the SUV’s impact sensors. These sensors determine when airbags and seatbelt pretensioners should activated, so if the wire gets disconnected, they might not deploy, increasing the chance of injury.
The same recall affects 18,011 vehicles in Canada and 3,087 in Mexico.
The issue was discovered during in-house crash tests. FCA is not aware of any injuries, accidents, warranty claims or customer complaints related to this issue. Customers with questions and concerns are being urged to call the FCA US Customer Care Center at (800)-853-1403. To check if your vehicle has been recalled, you can check the NHSTA website.
