Mitsubishi will show an all-new compact SUV model at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

The Japanese automaker released a teaser image of a new SUV sporting a coupe-like style similar to the GT-PHEV Concept that debuted at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. No details about the upcoming model were announced but Mitsubishi said it will broaden the model range while introducing a whole new audience to the brand. The compact SUV will feature a sloping roofline “with a wedge-shaped belt line and a distinctive V-line in the rear quarter stemming from the forward-slanted C-pillar and the chunky, muscular rear fenders,” said Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi isn’t doing very well in North America and it needs to bolster its lineup. Crossovers are what consumers want, so it’s very likely that it will eventually be sold here. This new crossover hasn’t been named yet, but when it does arrive, it will likely compete with the new Nissan Rogue Sport and slot in between the Outlander and Outlander Sport in the Mitsubishi lineup.

Look for the new SUV to make its global debut on March 7 at the Geneva Motor Show where AutoGuide.com will be reporting live from the show floor. Expect to see electrified powertrains, as Mitsubishi is focusing on fuel efficiency and hybrids to represent the future of its brand.

From Wikipedia: "A coup is a closed two-door car body style with a permanently attached fixed roof, that is shorter than a sedan or saloon (British and Irish English) of the same model, and it often has seating for two persons or with a tight-spaced rear seat." Personally, I prefer to call myself a George Foreman grill.
