Could This Ungainly SUV Be the Lamborghini Urus?

A strange and somewhat ungainly SUV that might be the Lamborghini Urus has been spied testing on public roadways.

Earlier this week, Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali confirmed the Urus nameplate and that we should be hearing more about the SUV in the coming weeks. It’s possibly a hint that the Italian automaker has something in store for the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, but we might not even have to wait until March. An SUV that appears to be a Urus prototype has been spotted in Denmark by a reader of Pro-Street (which has more photos), giving us a peek at what might be the production Urus.

Compared to the concept, the styling has been toned down quite a bit, which is to be expected. It looks bulkier than the sleek concept, and its bulging fenders are nowhere to be seen. Then again, the camouflage is doing its job at concealing all the major details.

Unlike most other modern cars under development, Lamborghini has managed to keep the Urus out of the spotlight and away from spy photographers. The company’s CEO also shared that pre-production units will roll off the assembly line as early as April, so it’s just a matter of time before we see for sure what the Urus will look like. It’s likely that Lamborghini wants to jump ahead of spy photographers by showing off a thinly veiled concept in Geneva next month.
