Audi has just announced that the 400-horsepower TT RS will make its U.S. debut at the New York International Auto Show next week.

Anyone interested in buying this little red rocket will need $64,900 (plus $975 destination fee).

Not only is the 2018 Audi TT RS the most powerful TT ever, though, with 400 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, it’s also the most powerful car in its segment. That’s thanks to Audi’s 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine, which delivers its power to all four wheels as standard.

On top of being more powerful, the engine is also 57 lbs lighter than its predecessor thanks to a magnesium oil pan and an aluminum block. A unique 1-2-4-5-3 ignition sequence and oval tailpipes also help to make the TT RS sound like nothing else.

All of which, in conjunction with Audi’s seven-speed S Tronic transmission, means that the TT RS will get to 60 mph in a class-leading 3.6 seconds.

An interior bedecked with Alcantara and leather, fitted with Audi’s virtual cockpit, and available Bang & Olufsen sound system means that even when you aren’t flying down the autobahn at the TT RS’s top speed of 174 mph (with optional Dynamic plus package) it’s a pleasure to be in.
