The official word is the Polestar 1 will only be available through the Care by Volvo subscription program. But like everything else in this world, Polestar won’t turn away cold hard cash.

Making its debut earlier this week, the Polestar 1 is the first vehicle from the standalone brand now that it has officially separated from Volvo. At its debut, Polestar said the flagship coupe will be available through Volvo’s monthly subscription program that includes insurance, maintenance, and concierge services. How much that monthly fee will be for the Polestar 1 still hasn’t been determined, but based on what Polestar is valuing the coupe at, it could be quite a bit.

Speaking to Motor Authority, Polestar’s Duncan Forrester said an “indicative target price [for the Polestar 1] would be in the region of 130-150,000 euros.” That converts to roughly $150,000 to $177,000 USD. In addition, Polestar COO John Goodman said to Jalopnik, “If someone wants to give us $100-X-thousand dollars, we’ll find a way.”

In other words, Polestar might not officially be offering the 1 for sale in a traditional sense, but it’s not shutting the door on the idea either. The car is going to be limited to 500 units per year and Jalopnik reports the distribution will likely be 100 units to the U.S., 100 to Europe, and 300 to China.

We’ll get more details on the Polestar 1 later this year at the 2017 L.A. Auto Show.
