Mazda CX-5 Wins 2018 AutoGuide.com Reader's Choice Utility Vehicle of the Year Award

There are just so many crossovers and SUVs to choose from these days, but Mazda continues to win over the hearts of AutoGuide.com readers.

Last year, the Japanese automaker’s CX-9 model won the 2017 AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Utility Vehicle of the Year award, and this year Mazda claims the trophy again with the updated CX-5. Looking stylish as ever, the CX-5 is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque, while paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The model also benefits from G-Vectoring Control, a software-based system that is designed to improve overall control and cornering performance. AutoGuide.com made the bold claim that the CX-5 “is easily the best to drive in the segment,” and it appears our readers agree.

With six different vehicle categories voted for in this year’s 2018 Reader’s Choice Awards, Kia took home the coveted title of Reader’s Choice Car of the Year with the all-new Stinger. The Ford GT earned itself Reader’s Choice Exotic Car of the Year, while the Porsche 911 GT2 RS was named Reader’s Choice Sports Car of the Year. The Mazda CX-5 grabbed top honors for Reader’s Choice Utility Vehicle of the Year, joined by the Volvo XC60 with the win in the Reader’s Choice Luxury Utility Vehicle of the Year category. Lastly, the AutoGuide.com 2018 Reader’s Choice Luxury Car of the Year goes to the Lexus LC500.
