Mercedes Says Its Electric Vehicles Aren't Delayed
Mercedes-Benz‘s parent company, Daimler, says the development of its electric vehicles is right on schedule.
Recently, German business daily Handelsblatt reported the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQC has been delayed several months until June 2019. Daimler has responded, with one spokesman saying the company hasn’t specified a launch date for the model just yet. The publication also reported the plug-in hybrid version of the redesigned S-Class wasn’t arriving until 2021, but Daimler says it is on target and there are no delays.

It is believed that as more automakers turn to electrified vehicles, battery production could become a bottleneck. Mercedes plans to offer an electrified version of every model it sells by 2022, resulting in at least 50 electric or hybrid models in its lineup. Smart, which is also owned by Daimler, will stop offering gasoline engines by 2020.
