MINI Lineup Could Grow to 10 Models Says BMW CEO
MINI will expand its lineup considerably over the next few years and could grow to as many as 10 models says BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer.
The top man at the MINI parent company remarked that he, “can imagine 20 MINIs,” while speaking after an announcement about investing £500 million in the brand’s Oxford factory as it gears up to build the brand’s next-generation of cars.
The statement isn’t as wild as it at first seems with MINI’s current lineup already including the conventional hardtop model, the Clubman, Countryman, Convertible and (depending on how you define the term “model”) the JCW. Adding to that will be the Coupe and Roadster, plus MINI has already announced it will deliver a production version of the Paceman – essentially a two-door version of the Countryman.
Bringing that model total to eight, the Rocketman concept is also likely to see production, although according to MINI USA boss Jim McDowell we won’t see it on our shores.
