To support the victims of earthquakes that swept through Northen Italy last month, Ferrari organized a charity auction that raised 1.8 million Euros for affected families.

A custom 599xx Evo was no doubt the hot ticket item, and ended up selling for €1.4 million, about €100,000 more than the reserve. The car sports a unique commemorative plaque signed by Chairman Luca di Montezemolo and two Ferrari race car drivers. It will also be personally delivered by the Ferrari racers at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza to the buyer.

A 2008 V8 engine from the Scuderia car that won the 16th Constructors’ World Championship was offered with a €50,000 reserve, and sold for €80,000. Many other smaller items were auctioned, such as watches and clothing.

“A pole position result: I knew I could count on the big-heartedness of the Ferraristi but they’ve still managed to surprise me once again,” declared Ferrari Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo. “I would like to thank all the clients, collectors and enthusiasts that did their bit. Their bids have sent out a message of warmth and solidarity to the people in our region affected by this tragedy.”
