Maserati Levante Mule Caught Testing in Spy Photos
Smaller than the Quattroporte, Maserati is gearing up to introduce a sew sports sedan into its lineup, likely called ‘Levante,’ that is meant to compete with the BMW 5-series, Audi A6 and Mercedes E-class, and our spy photographers managed to snap some pictures of a test mule on the road.
Power is expected to come from either a twin-turbo V6, or an optional V8 engine, both of which will be connected to an eight-speed ZF transmission. The Chrysler built Pentastar V6 is also an option for the Levante.
The car in the photos is a test mule for the upcoming small Maserati, but still wears the shell of a Quattroporte. The wheels, particularly in the front, appear to be too big for the wheel arches, while the brakes appear to be smaller than on any other regular Quattroporte. Both of these points hint towards a lighter car and a shorter wheel base, and let us know that this is simply a test mule.
The Levante is expected to price in at around $75,000.
