Rumors of a unique McLaren came true today at Pebble Beach with the X-1, a special edition vehicle, based on a MP4-12C

Even with one-offs, McLaren doesn’t play around, and the X-1 uses the same 3.8-liter V8 sourced from the MP4-12C. Twin turbochargers push the power to 592 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.

This unique vehicle was made for a client, who refused to accept computer images as proof of the design. The styling took 18 months to sign off on.

Size-wise, the X-1 is imposing. The X-1 is 109mm longer than a 12C, coming in at 4658mm long in total. Width is also increased by 188 mm, 2097mm (with mirrors) overall. Despite the revised roof-line, the height remains the same, at 1199mm.

Curb weight is almost identical (about 1400kg) as the MP4-12c, as the lighter carbon body panels compensate for the greater length and width.

The carbon interior trim also has a titanium weave, to give off a magical 3D-like effect. Special Andesite tufted carpet covers the floor.

The MP4-12C is a phenom of a car (rear our review here) and packs impressive technology. Expect this same awesome tech in this car.

Styling wise the car is quite impressive, and very different than the subtle, yet cool styling from the McLaren MP4-12C. Check out the full gallery below.
