After showcasing a prototype at the Detroit Auto Show, Acura is planning to reveal the production version of the 2014 MDX at the New York Auto Show at the end of next month, AutoGuide has learned.

Sticking true to the Honda/Acura product rollout strategy, little will change in terms of the MDX’s style, though it does gain the brand’s new Jewel Eye headlights up front. Lower than the current SUV for improved access, handling and drag, it’s roughly the same length, though features a longer wheelbase for added interior room.

Under the hood is a new 3.5-liter V6 engine featuring direct-injection and likely also cylinder deactivation to help achieve best-in-class fuel economy, while output should be right around the 300 hp mark. In the battle to achieve maximum mpg, Acura will also for the first time offer a front-drive version, with AWD optional.

Other features we can expect to see include many of the available tech features found on the new RLX, including forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist and active cruise control.
