Long-wheelbase cars are still growing in popularity in China, and Infiniti will offer a stretched version of its Q50 sedan to meet that demand.

China is already Infiniti’s second largest market, and holds significant importance for the brand, hence the introduction of a China-specific model to meet the needs of local customers. Beginning next year, both the long-wheelbase Q50 and QX50 will be built at the company’s Xiangyang, China, plant.

Initially, long-wheelbase models built for China were mostly large luxury cruisers like the Mercedes S-Class, but now luxury sport sedans are joining the trend, as BMW announced earlier this year the availability of a 3 Series long wheelbase model for China.
