Mitsubishi to Focus on Plug-in Hybrids
As Mitsubishi strives to end losses in Japan and North America, it will turn to expanding its plug-in hybrid offerings.
New plug-in models from Mitsubishi will be heading to North America in the near future, as the brand hopes to surpass the 5.2 percent operating margin it forecast in its midterm business plan that ends on March, 2017.

According to President Osamu Masuko, Mitsubishi expects electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to make up 20 percent of its output by 2020.

A plug-in hybrid variant of the Montero is in the pipeline to be available in 2016 and will draw inspiration from the GC-PHEV concept. Of course there’s also the Outlander PHEV and Outlander Sport PHEV that will be coming to North America.
