Jaguar’s sultry new F-Type Coupe is the real deal. This sports car offers jaw-dropping performance, beautiful coachwork and a luxurious interior. But there’s so much more to it than a pretty face.

The F-Type has wowed jaded critics, including the humble editors of AutoGuide.com. The car is equipped with some seriously powerful engines including a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and an alpha-dog, force-fed 5.0-liter V8 that cranks out 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque; it’s a monster. But even better than these engines’ output figures are the noises they make. The eight in particular pops and crackles like nothing else.

But beyond all of this wholesome goodness the F-Type also has an engaging chassis that knows how to dance. Toss the car into a decreasing-radius corner and she responds beautifully with lots of grip and a balanced chassis. Part of what makes this vehicle such a joy to drive is how rigid its underlying architecture is. The car is built atop an aluminum platform that features a number of clever engineering tweaks as illustrated in the following infographic.
