Lexus is planning an “F” version of its GS sedan that will be powered by an uprated version of the 5.0-liter V8 powering its new RC F performance coupe.

Spy photos of the GS F being tested on the Nurburgring already tipped off its existence, but now there are new details. The Japanese performance sedan will arrive in 2016 according to a new report from AutoCar citing an unnamed source. If the report proves to be true, the car will also use an eight-speed automatic transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential and could begin arriving at dealerships late next year.

It will use a modified version of the RC F chassis and is expected to sport an even more dramatic grille than the brand’s new BMW M4 competitor. The modified version of Lexus’ 5.0-liter V8 is supposed to make roughly 500 hp in this application and just under 400 lb-ft of torque.

Like the new RC F, this car will come with variable drive modes that control how the dampers, throttle, transmission and electric power steering respond. Despite Toyota’s pedigree as a leader in hybrid technology, the GS F will only be powered by a naturally aspirated V8.

Sounds like this car will get killed and get showed up next to the CTS-V, E63, RS6, XFR-S and M5. However, Lexus could show them up in handling and chassis dynamics except for CTS-V.
