A decision on whether the MINI Superleggera will be produced is expected to be made in the coming months.

The stunning concept was unveiled earlier this year at the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza and is reportedly at least six months away from being approved by BMW. The BMW board is still deciding whether or not the Superleggera is a worthwhile product for the MINI brand as it simultaneously contemplates the virtues of expanding or contracting the current model line.

The MINI Superleggera in concept form was outfitted with an electric powertrain and if it gets the green light, would be the brand’s eighth model. MINI’s current lineup consists of the Hatch, Five-Door, Convertible, Coupe, Roadster, Paceman and Countryman.
