Bentley Mulsanne Speed Redefines Excess in Paris
Heavy-duty pickup trucks are about to have serious torque envy thanks to the all new Bentley Mulsanne Speed.
With a ridiculous 811 lb-ft coming from the turbocharged 6.75-liter V8, Bentley is showing the Mulsanne Speed to the world for the first time here at the Paris Motor Show.
But as obnoxious as that 811 lb-ft. figure may seem, it isn’t all that extreme when considering the Mulsanne Speed shares another trait with pick-up trucks – weight. Tipping the scales at just under 6,000 lbs., this is no lightweight.

But the Mulsanne Speed doesn’t care. It’ll defy physics and still hit 60 MPH from a standstill in 4.8 seconds before reaching an insane top speed of 190 MPH. There is something both mesmerizing and horrifying about the thought of a three ton car traveling at nearly 200 MPH.
And the news keeps getting better. Even with the power increase, the Mulsanne Speed now achieves 12 MPG in the city and 19 MPG on the highway. This is achieved largely thanks to the use of cylinder deactivation that can turn the big V8 into a V4 when workloads are light.

Being a large uber luxury car, the styling changes between the regular Mulsanne and the Speed are minimal. Just a few darker trim pieces here and there and the prerequisite “Speed” badges round out the changes on the exterior. Inside, there is special piano black and carbon fiber inlays, but not much else.
Pricing is yet to be announced, but as the old saying goes, if you have to ask how much the Muslanne Speed costs, chances are you aren’t in the market to buy one anyway.

Beautiful car, wish automakers give you an option of wood trim with standard carbon fiber. No need for uber-speed cars like this have only carbon-fiber.
