Honda Accord, Infiniti EX Probed for Steering Defects
The Honda Accord and Infiniti EX35 are under investigation for a possible steering issue.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened an investigation into 374,000 2013 Honda Accords and 17,000 2008 Infiniti EX35 crossovers after receiving complaints for steering problems. Two dozen complaints have been received for the Accord, alleging that the vehicles lose power steering or that a significant increase in effort is required to steer the vehicle. Four accidents related to the Accord complaints have been reported with the collisions occurring at speeds under 30 MPH.

Complaints lodged against the Infiniti EX35 suggest the steering wheel shaft is separating, causing a loss of steering control. In one complaint, problems began at 40 MPH and once the driver came to a complete stop, they were able to turn the steering wheel 360 degrees without the tires moving. The owner of the vehicle reported that it had fewer than 20,000 miles registered on the odometer. Another complaint indicated that the steering wheel became loose and failed completely after pulling into the driveway of the owner’s home.
