Subaru is previewing the next Impreza’s design with the Impreza 5-Door Concept at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

Expected to arrive late next year as a 2017 model, the new Subaru Impreza will be the first of the Japanese automaker’s next-generation strategic vehicles envisioned in Fuji Heavy Industries’ Mid-Term Management Vision “Prominence 2020” that was announced in May 2014. Subaru also added in a statement that the concept not only previews the next-generation Impreza, but also hints at the design direction of Subaru’s future models as a whole.

The company kept mostly quiet on details about the model, but did reveal body dimensions with the concept measuring 173 inches long, 74 inches wide and 56 inches tall. It rides on a 105-inch wheelbase and like the current Impreza models, offers seating for five.

It’ll be interesting to see how the design carries over to the traditional four-door Impreza model, but we’ll likely get more information next year once Subaru starts moving forward with development on the production model. Hopefully it won’t disappoint like it has in the past, creating a stunning concept only to tame it down significantly for production.

grotesque. I used to love Subarus, but the CVT, the 2.slow Impreza, and now this disgusting headlights and weird japanese muscle-car redesign of the Impreza ..I am done. I will buy a Golf, Jetta, Focus, anything but this. It looks like a Nissan or the new Mazda 3, also disgusting.
