For over 60 years, Volvo has been building wagons for the world to enjoy.

The Swedish automaker’s newest offering will bow February 18 at a special event in Stockholm, Volvo has announced. The new Volvo V90 will benefit from all the years of experience the automaker has in creating wagons, starting from the Volvo Duett launched in 1953. In its storied history, the company has sold over six-million wagons worldwide, representing about a third of Volvo’s total vehicles ever sold since it was founded in 1927.

The Volvo V90 will be built on the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) found under the XC90 and S90 and will essentially be the wagon variant of the S90 sedan that launched at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show in January.

The wagon leaked earlier this year and is expected to share its powerplant with the S90, which is a twin-charged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Expect a plug-in hybrid variant to be added to the lineup in the near future.

“We have provenance in the estate segment,” said Håkan Samuelsson, chief executive at Volvo Cars. “In many people’s minds we are known as the definitive estate brand. While the Volvo brand stands for much more than just estates, we will proudly carry forward this rich heritage with the V90.”
