Lexus plans to introduce another crossover to its lineup, based off the UX Concept shown at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

The UX is a futuristic concept full of hard edges and striking curves and will slot in beneath the NX in the Lexus lineup. The news was confirmed to Motoring.com.au by Lexus International executive vice president Yoshihiro Sawa.

Besides the unique styling on the exterior, the interior of the UX featured a holographic user interface and strange seats thats use strapping as supports. It’s safe to say that many of these features of the concept won’t make it to production, while even the exterior styling will likely be toned down a bit.

When it comes to life, the new UX will borrow its underpinnings from the new Toyota C-HR, so expect the UX to also be about the same size at Toyota’s new baby crossover. A hybrid powertrain is also likely for the UX.

An exact timeline for the arrival of the UX is unknown, though Sawa did say “it’s not so far away.” Considering the small crossover market is booming right now, Lexus is likely rushing to get the UX to market.
