BMW today has debuted the X5 M and X6 M Black Fire Editions – limited-run versions of the SUVs which the automaker says are inspired by its motorsports ventures.

The X5 M and X6 M Black Fire models are set apart from standard versions of the SUVs by their Sapphire Black Metallic exterior paint, black M double kidney grilles and black 21-inch M alloy wheels. There’s also standard carbon-fiber mirror caps that BMW says “accentuate the lightweight design of both models and show the close relationship between both the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M and motorsport.”

The racing-inspired look continues inside with full fine-grain Merino leather seating in contrasting Black and Mugello Red, a leather-wrapped dash, piano black trim, a ‘Black Fire Edition’ dash logo and an M Performance Alcantara steering wheel with a blue 12 o’clock marking.

BMW’s 4.4-liter V8 engine remains untouched in the special editions, producing the same 567 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque as before. It’s linked up to the automaker’s eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox, which can be controlled via the steering wheel-mounted al

uminum paddle shifters.

Both the X5 M and X6 M Black Fire Editions will be available from August 2017. Pricing has yet to be announced.
