FCA Recalls 414K Vehicles for Occupant Restraint Issue
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is recalling older Jeep Liberty, Chrysler 200, and Dodge Avenger models.
The recall involves a component in the occupant restraint modules that may degrade after extensive vehicle use. If it does degrade, it could inhibit deployment of the active head restraints, which automatically move forward in the event of certain rear impacts, helping protect the front-row occupants from whiplash. It is possible the condition may cause a warning light to illuminate in the instrument cluster, so owners should contact their dealers if they see the light.

FCA points out airbag function is not impacted by the issue and the company is unaware of any accidents or injuries associated to the issue.
To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the occupant restraint module for free and affected owners will be notified starting in November.
