Buy It! IMSA Inspired Widebody Mustang

IMSA helped make boxy cool.

With the ‘Fox’ body generation, the Mustang had undergone enough changes to leave behind the horrid reputation of the Mustang II. As a result, it actually gained a reputation among buyers as a good handling yet cheap car, and now, years later, clean ones are becoming harder to find because they’re an excellent platform to build on.

Back in 1982, somebody else had caught on to what not many others had done until recently – building a hot rodded a Fox body for racing. Sporting a set of what seem to be dealer-installed IMSA inspired fender flares, this wonderful wide body has a 4 point roll cage, Recaro seats, and a Holley 650 double pumper carb. Included in the price is another wide-body Mustang that looks a lot more like “The Last of the V8 Interceptors” from Mad Max. This is a super cool car that would be an excellent daily sports car, or even take it to the track for an excellent day hunting apexes.
