The Mercedes-AMG Project One was recently on display at the 2018 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in Florida.

Which meant a few enthusiasts that were attending the event managed to catch the hypercar on camera, moving on its own power. We’ve seen plenty of the Project One ever since it debuted at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, but this is really the first time it’s been caught in its natural habitat. Unfortunately it is still a prototype so we don’t get to see it really accelerating or lighting up its tires.

In fact, final specifications on the hypercar haven’t even been determined just yet, but recently AMG boss Tobias Moers said it will be between 1,000 to 1,100 brake horsepower. The automaker is looking into the possibility of breaking the Nurburgring overall lap record of 6:11.1 with the hypercar, which will tip the scales between 2,866 pounds and 3,086 lbs.

Limited to 275 units, we expect to hear a lot more noise coming from the Project One later this year. For now, this video will have to suffice until Mercedes-AMG is ready to unleash it completely for the camera.

Styling is certainly underwhelming. Except for the silly find, it actually looks like child of a Ford GT40 and the Jaguar 220.

the XJ220 and the ford GT40 are hardly dated in any way but age... both are beautiful and highly capable designs with performance and handling beyond most human qualifications... what is dated is the idea that there must be an endless rehashing of design to be "current"... dream on...
