The Mercedes-Maybach Concept for the 2018 Beijing auto show has leaked online ahead of its debut.

The latest concept from Mercedes’ super luxury sub-brand is not what we were expecting when we first saw teaser images for the vehicle. Instead of a traditional SUV with a hatchback-style rear door, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is more like a high-riding sedan. It’s designed to appeal to well-to-do Chinese customers, who are currently fueling sales of large super luxury vehicles from a variety of high-end automakers.

Just like every other new concept car, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is electric. With four synchronous motors attached at each wheel, the concept produces 738 hp and can top out at 155 mph. An 80 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is housed within the floor of the SUV-sedan, giving it a theoretical range of around 310 miles.

The interior gives usa good idea of what to expect from future Maybach products with white diamond-stitch leather upholstery, a dual-screen instrument cluster and infotainment display and shiny bronze trim. Rear seat passengers can also enjoy a cup of tea thanks to the Maybach-branded tea set housed in the rear center console.

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is only a design study and isn’t slated for production, but don’t be surprised if a production-ready Maybach-branded SUV appears sometime in the near future.
