Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster Lineup Adds a New Member
The Mercedes-AMG GT family now has a dozen members.
The 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster will join the lineup later this year, following in the footsteps of the coupe model. Designed to slot between the standard Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster and the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster, the GT S version features 515 horsepower and 494 pound-feet of torque. Like the other two models, it’s powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that is paired to an AMG Speedshift seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The GT S Roadster is capable of hitting 60 mph from a standstill in 3.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than the base model and 0.1 seconds slower than the GT C. Top speed is set at 192 mph, compared to the GT’s 188 mph and the GT C’s 196 mph.
To compare, the standard AMG GT Roadster has 469 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque, while the GT C Roadster generates 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque.

The model also comes equipped with AMG Ride Control suspension, with standard adaptive damping adjustment. Also standard is an electronically-controlled locking differential at the rear axle, which is integrated into the compact transmission housing. Braking performance comes in the form of 15.4-inch brake discs up front matched to six-piston calipers, while the rear gets 14.2-inch rotors and single-piston fixed calipers. Standard wheels measure 19 inches up front and 20 inches in the rear.
Inside the drop-top’s cabin, the AMG GT S Roadster comes standard with the AMG Silver Chrome Interior package, which includes high-quality silver chrome highlights on the center console surround, air vent bezels, and trim strips in the door armrests. There are several other trim options for the interior, including AMG Black Piano Lacquer, matte silver fibreglass, carbon fiber, and matte carbon fiber.
Look for the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster to arrive dealerships in the U.S. by late 2018. Pricing information and additional details will be revealed closer to its launch.
