The 2019 Hyundai Elantra has been updated with restyled front and rear ends and new available safety features.

The 2019 Elantra’s new look consists of a redesigned grille, new LED headlights, a new hood and a redesigned rear end with different taillights. To our eye, the sedan’s updated appearance is similar to the 2019 Sonata’s and vaguely reminiscent of the Hyundai Le Fil Rouge concept.

The 2019 Elantra has also received new optional extras in the way of larger 18-inch alloy wheels and a new 8.0-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 7.0-inch infotainment system from the outgoing 2018 model year Elantra will serve in lesser trim levels.

New active safety features on the 2019 Elantra include a blind spot monitoring system, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with active lane control and a rearview camera with cross-traffic alert.

As for the powertrain options, they remain the same, consisting of a 149 hp naturally aspirated 2.0-liter, a 130 hp turbocharged 1.4-liter and a 204 hp turbo 1.6-liter.

Pricing for the 2019 Hyundai Elantra has yet to be announced, but it should be close to the $16,950 base price of the 2018 Elantra.

Vast improvement over the overwrought trapezoid guppy mouth of the Hyundai, Audi, etc. Finally, putting the Veloster info screen in this model, but only on the top of the line. Dumb...

Well, it does look better in gray than it looked in white at the reveal. The guy who introduced it stressed how much money they spent on the retooling of body panels. Well, they should have saved the money. The headlights are just ugly, especially as they intrude into the grille. The tail lights are too jagged, although the rear isn't too bad except a too-wide rear diffuser. And the dashboard is just a mess. Still no rear air vents, looking like el cheapo design.
