The Jaguar F-Type may be getting a bit old, but it’s still one of the best looking sports cars on sale today. Available as either a convertible or a coupe, the F-Type comes with either rear or all wheel drive.

Although other engines have been offered in the past, the F-Type now only uses V8 power. Both supercharged, there’s a choice of engines that make all sorts of snarling, crackling, V8 noises.

2024 Jaguar F-Type R 75 Review: Do Not Go Gentle

The F-Type deserved a proper goodbye.

Jaguar has spent over a decade producing this oh-so-pretty two-seater, and the last 12 months preparing us for the end. The 2024 F-Type R 75 is one of the last versions of this sports car, a sort that the world is likely to never see again.

On paper, this is little different from the P450 convertible we drove almost two years ago. More power sounded like fun, but what else could we really glean from the F-Type again, especially in the winter? As it turns out, quite a lot: spending a week with the R 75 solo allowed its strengths to shine, and serve as a final farewell to a car that is unlike anything else on the market.

Jaguar F-Type Convertible vs Lexus LC Convertible: Beauty and the Beast

It happens at a suburban intersection.

There’s managing editor Mike Schlee ahead, soaking in the rays in the Jaguar F-Type convertible. I’m watching it all unfold from the interior of the Lexus LC droptop behind. A high-schooler is crossing the street, and I’m happy to tell you he’s got good manners.

“That’s a very nice car, sir,” he says to Mike. So polite. Less polite is that, in his focus on that low British two-seater, he’s not aware of the collision course he’s set himself on with a woman coming the other way. She’s not aware either, because she’s not-so-discreetly got her phone out to snap a photo or two of these drop-dead-gorgeous drop-tops.

They collide. Both utter that most Canadian of words—and then grab another glance of the cars.
