MINI’s Nurburgring-burning John Cooper Works GP hot hatch is almost here and will cost $39,950 including $700 for delivery.

Making 218 hp and up to 207 lb-ft of torque, the car isn’t any more powerful than the normal John Cooper Works car, but it’s quite a bit faster. In fact, it clocked a better time around the “Green Hell” than both the BMW 335i Coupe and Lotus Exige S. That’s because it gets a host of performance upgrades to make it a true track-ready performer.

Those parts include a fully-adjustable coilover suspension, a special aero kit and a 2,558-lb curb weight — 121 lbs less than the John Cooper Works-equipped Cooper S.

When it goes on sale later this fall, this will be MINI’s most expensive car by a $5,150 margin.
