Perhaps taking notes from Bentley’s recent reveal of its Continental GT3 race car at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Jaguar confirmed that an F-Type GT3 race car is a possible.

Both Jaguar executives Ratan Tata and Ralph Speth spoke at the launch of the F-Type at the Paris Motor Show about the possibility of GT3 racing with its newest sports car, but downplayed the idea that it would happen anytime soon.

“There is a lot of speculation, but no decisions. This is a car we can do a lot of things with, and theoretically GT3 racing is one of them. There are no deadlines for a decision, and no dates to make plans – first, we must launch the road car,” Speth said.

But reports have suggested that the British automaker has committed to a GT3 race program and could be hitting the track in late 2013 or early 2014. Rumor has it that Jaguar is working with the Williams F1 team on an agreement to help prepare for GT3 racing.

I only hope that the FIA/ACO do not do something to kill the only true strong international GT class because they do not control it.
