Ram is getting in on the commercial van action, announcing today that the brand is bringing a Fiat Ducato based van to the market.

Ram is looking to compete with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and the new Ford Transit Connect, and will redesign the Ducato to fit in here in North America with more typical Ram styling cues. Right now, RAM offers a work van in the form of a stripped out Dodge Grand Caravan, but the Pro Master will offer more cargo room, and more versatility.

“The Ram ProMaster further strengthens our commercial lineup, offering a full line of work trucks and vans,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO of the Ram Truck Brand. “As the Ram Truck Brand continues to gain share and grow sales in the retail truck market, we will be just as aggressive in our goal to be a commercial truck market leader.”

Watch for the new Ram utility van to hit the market in the third quarter of 2013.
