Aston Martin, AMG May Partner on Future Technology

Now that Investindustrial has acquired a 37.5-percent stake in Aston Martin, AMG could potentially become a technology partner for the British automaker.

Back when Investindustrial owned Ducati, the private equity firm established a partnership with Mercedes-Benz and AMG. According to a senior source at the German luxury automaker, Investindustrial inquired if AMG would be interested in becoming a technology partner if it won the bid for Aston Martin.

Aston Martin is rumored to be interested in AMG’s new 6.0-liter, twin-turbo V12 power plant to replace the Ford-supplied engine the automaker currently uses. If a partnership does become established, it could lead more than just sharing engine technology.
