Jaguar is building on its line of R performance cars, adding the XJ flagship sedan, which will debut during the 2013 New York Auto Show next week.

Power comes from a familiar 5.0-liter supercharged V8. That’s the same engine found in the XFR-S Jaguar debuted during the L.A. Auto Show late last year.

That also means the XJR will probably be able to skip the gas guzzler tax by using engine start-stop technology. While Jaguar didn’t talk about that in today’s release, it did say the car will use a bespoke chassis and gain aerodynamic enhancements.
