Lamborghini is still on track to bring a new SUV, called the Urus, to market by 2016, as a 2017 model year vehicle.

“Lamborghini has to do it,” Audi CEO Rupert Stadler told Autocar. “Because of the need to dovetail into production cycles, we should see the Urus in 2017.” He went on to say that the Urus should be signed off on this year.

The Urus will be based on the new-generation of MLB platform that underpins the Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg. The SUV promises to be light weight with a low center of gravity, because of a focus on handling. The concept included adjustable aerodynamic pieces including a height-adjustable front spoiler, a deflector on the rear windshield, and an adaptive rear spoiler.
