Considering the McLaren P1 supercar has a powerplant derived from what lurks in the MP4-12C, it’s no surprise that the British automaker is injecting even more power to its 12C model.

According to Jalopnik, the MP4-12C will get a number of upgrades that the P1 engine received, though it’s highly unlikely McLaren will offer any sort of hybrid system like what’s found in the P1. Undoubtedly some tweaks were done to the 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 which will now find its way to the 2014 MP4-12C.

The current MP4-12C packs 616 hp while the P1 sits happily at 727 hp (minus the electric boost). As for the amount of power gain the MP4-12C will see in 2014? The automaker wouldn’t even give a slight hint.

UPDATE: McLaren confirmed to Jalopnik that the MP4-12C will, in fact, not receive any power updates for 2014.
