Infiniti wants a new flagship car to headline its lineup rather than a premium, luxury SUV.

Currently, Infiniti’s flagship model is considered to be its QX80 SUV, but Infiniti president Johan dy Nysschen has confirmed that in the future it will be a car. The new flagship model is an important piece of the puzzle as the Japanese automaker looks to strengthen its hold on the luxury market by expanding to 14 models by 2020.

The company also wants to see its sales increase to 500,000 annually with no plans or ambition to expand beyond that point.

The Infiniti flagship is rumored to be a Q90 model, and a recently leaked sketch revealed the design direction the brand plans to take with it. It is rumored that it will be developed with input from Red Bull Racing, which Infiniti has a partnership with in its highly successful Formula One campaign.
