Ram is expanding its lineup of commercial vehicles, announcing that it will offer a small cargo van called the ProMaster City starting in 2015.

Just like the larger ProMaster is a rebadged Fiat Ducato, the smaller Ram ProMaster City will be North American version of the Fiat Doblo (seen above). The Doblo has a 102-inch wheelbase compared to the ProMaster’s 136 inches, while it is 12.2 inches slimmer than the larger van.

The base engine in the ProMaster City will likely be the 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine found in the Fiat 500L that makes 160 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Chrysler hasn’t released any official specs on the vehicle yet, simply saying that the ProMaster City “will encompass familiar Ram Truck styling cues and offer features and powertrains preferred by North American commercial customers.”

Chrysler’s new van will challenge Ford’s Transit Connect, and will enter the market at the same time that Chevrolet will begin selling a re-badged version of Nissan’s NV200 called the City Express.
