Chrysler Recalling 25K SUVs Over Brake Issues

Chrysler is calling back 25,250 SUVs from the Jeep and Dodge brands over issues with the braking system.

The issue stems from the vehicle’s Ready Alert Braking system, which primes the brake pedal for a more aggressive response in the event of an emergency. Brake fluid flow is too restricted for the system to offer the proper braking feel, though the brakes do function properly and are in compliance with regulations.

Chrysler says that a supplier raised the concern that the brake pedal feel has not been consistent with customer expectations.

A software update has been issued for these vehicles that will improve the brake fluid flow, and allow the system to work as advertised. Certain Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from model years 2012 and 2013 are affected by this recall.
