Despite it’s reputation for being a cool and luxurious car, Jaguar’s grand-touring coupe, the XK, is about to stop production with no replacement model planned at this time.

The news should come as no surprise, with the XK seeing poor sales over the past few years. The recent praise for the newer, faster Jaguar F-Type, a true sports car, could have also overshadowed the XK in the marketplace.

With production of the coupe ceased, Jaguar will look to focus its efforts on reaching a broader audience. The upcoming XE sport-sedan which will take aim at the BMW 3 series and Mercedes C-Class, is expected from the automaker, along with a production version of the luxury crossover C-X17 concept.

Both of those new cars will be built on a new aluminum platform from Jaguar. A replacement for the XK is considered a low priority for the luxury automaker, but a flag-ship 2+2 GT is expected to return to the Jaguar lineup in the distant future.
