Production of the new Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar models is under way in Sweden.

Produced at the Volvo factory in Torslanda, the first Volvo V60 Polestar cars have rolled off the assembly line and are on their way to customers around the world. A total of 750 S60 and V60 Polestar cars will be produced this year and will be sold in Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the U.S. According to the Swedish automaker, the U.K. market is receiving the most with 125 units.

Both models are powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine providing 345 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission and are able to accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill in 4.7 seconds.

“It is an exciting process as there are many new and unique Polestar components that need to work seamlessly in the Volvo factory without interrupting the production of other models,” said Henrik Fries, S/V60 Polestar Technical Project Manager. “It was a truly proud moment to see the first Polestar blue cars on the production line together with the XC/V70, S80 and other models. The cooperation with Volvo works really well and we are looking forward to an exciting future together.”
