Jaguar just released the first photo of its new XE compact luxury sedan without any kind of camouflage to cover its sheet metal.

Information about the British brand’s upcoming BMW 3 Series fighter is on a slow, constant drip leading up to its full debut on September 8 in Paris. The new car will ride on a lightweight modular aluminum platform that will underpin most of Jaguar’s products in the future. It will also be the first vehicle to host one of Jaguar’s new “Ingenium” engines.

Earlier this week, the brand said it expects the car to achieve up to 75 MPG on the EU test cycle. Of course, that figure is a nebulous indication of what to expect from the XE when it arrives here if an indication at all. That figure is derived from the diesel powertrain that will be offered alongside a gasoline four-cylinder engine that seems like a more prime candidate for the car when it arrives in North America.

Jaguar hopes the XE will help boost its sales, which currently trail its corporate sibling: Land Rover. The same platform that will underpin the sedan shown today is also expected to birth a production version of the crossover concept Jaguar revealed during the 2013 Paris Motor Show.
