Exotic Italian automaker Pagani has confirmed that the U.S. has become the single largest market for its Huayra.

After six months into the year, the automaker has announced that 40 percent of its Huayra production has been sent to the U.S. Earlier this year, the company established Pagani WorldWide in San Francisco, California and developed a network of dealers in North America with a presence in Connecticut, Miami, Dallas, Beverly Hills, San Francisco and Toronto.

The company emphasized that it is the only small volume automaker in the world that manufactures less than 100 vehicles per year and has both E.U. and U.S. (EPA and CARB) certification with one of its models.

“We always knew that the demand for Pagani vehicles from the United States was very high. The Pagani Huayra was the company’s most ambitous project so far,” said Horacio Pagani, CEO and Chief Designer of Pagani Automobili SpA, Italy. “Developing a high performance sports car from scratch to be compliant with E.U. and U.S. requirements was a challenge our engineers and designers faced with enthusiasm, to create a Pagani vehicle that could be enjoyed by virtually every potential customer, everywhere around the globe.”

The Huayra is powered by an AMG-built 6.0-liter twin turbo V8 that pushes out 720 hp and 740 lb-ft of torque. Officially, it’s supposed to reach 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and uses a sequential single-clutch gearbox to direct power to the rear wheels.
