The upcoming Jaguar XE will have a range of four-cylinder engine options, but it looks like a V8 will also be on the list.

According to Auto Express, once Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team is done with the new XE, it will be ready for the race track thanks to the company’s supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that powers the F-Type and Range Rover Sport. In the XE SVR, as it will be called, the engine is expected to put out around 490 hp.

Early estimates put the 0 to 62 mph time at 4.0 seconds, while the car’s top speed would be limited around 155 mph.

In terms of rivalry, this car would go up against the BMW M3, Mercedes C63 AMG and Cadillac ATS-V, all of which will likely make less power than the XE SVR, if it comes to fruition.

As expected, the XE SVR would also get improved brakes, tires and suspension along with a quicker shifting eight-speed transmission.

The standard XE is expected to go on sale in early 2016, which is estimated to be the same time Jaguar would launch the XE SVR.
