The Lamborghini Huracán could be competing in the United SportsCar Championship as early as next year.

The Italian automaker is expected to reveal its Huracán GT3 race car in the near future and will be Lamborghini’s first all in-house GT3 car to be built by Dallara and developed by Squadra Corse. According to Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini chief test driver, any potential Tudor United SportsCar Championship program would be strictly customer-based but would come with full support from the automaker. Sanna said the Huracán GT3 race car would make an appearance later on in the season, likely after the long endurance races.

Lamborghini recently unveiled its Huracán Super Trofeo race car, which is will be a small downgrade from the GT3 race car. “It’s to support the gentlemen and pro drivers to get experience in a car that’s not so far from a GT3, even in terms of performance,” Sanna said.
