The 2015 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year long list has been announced.

For next year’s Car of the Year and Truck/Utility of the Year selection process, the jury will consider 28 candidates in the car category and 29 vehicles in the truck/utility segment, which also includes crossovers. Last year, Chevrolet did a rare brand sweep by winning both categories with its Corvette Stingray and Silverado models. It’s possible for another automaker to do the same this year with GM, Ford, BMW, Hyundai, Kia and Toyota all having multiple nominees.

The 2015 independent jury has been expanded to 60 jurors, an increase of 10 over the previous year. Expect a short list to be announced in the near future with the winners revealed at next year’s Detroit Auto Show.
