The bonkers McLaren P1 GTR made its official debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and the British supercar maker wanted to show its latest creation with a wink and a nod to the past.

The livery that the P1 GTR is sporting here is a homage to the yellow and green McLaren F1 GTR, chassis #06R, known as one of the five F1 GTRs that dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the company’s debut 20 years ago.

The P1 GTR wears the new threads nicely as it should, the track-only car is the next big thing from the automaker. Making 1000 metric horses, the P1 has a front track that’s 80 mm wider than the normal P1 and is lowered by 50 mm. It also has a fixed rear spoiler, which in combination with the other body enhancements increases downforce by 10 percent.

The already light hypercar gets even lighter as it gets race ready, trimming down to just 3,170 lbs. It rides on 19-inch center-locking racing alloys that are wrapped in Pirelli racing slicks, meaning you can’t take it on the road. Instead McLaren will puts you through a special driver program that involves fitting the seat to its owner. From there the driver goes through “Human Performance Center” where they get trained to drive the car. After that, you get to drive your new car virtually, in a simulator. Only after that, will the real driving begin, with at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain later this year.
