The first round of updates, for the T6, T5, D5 and D4 engines, will be released in the last week of June 2015 and will be followed by over 140 other improvements in subsequent months. Volvo says that all of the changes are made without affecting the certified emissions, fuel consumption, service interval or warranty.

In terms of specifics, Volvo says that the engines will have quicker throttle response while cars with automatic transmissions will shift even faster. Shift points have been changed to improve mid-range performance, while a gear hold function allows you to make sure the transmission won’t shift when it’s unwanted. Mid-range power is also boosted in all the engines.
